House Burn
SSE house ‘house‘ Scots burn ‘burn’

The entry in the Ayrshire Ordnance Survey Names Book (1855-57) for House Burn reads –
A small stream running on the west side of Nether Beoch into Beoch Lane Burn*
*Beoch Lane Burn the element burn ‘stream’ has been added in error, since lane is ‘slow moving stream’
There are several burns [1] running from the west to join the Beoch Lane and House Burn is the one that runs closest to the farmhouse of Nether Beoch.
