The Heritors of Parish of New Cumnock, 1833.

So wh0 were the heritors at that time and what lands did they own?

Without access to the Valuation Rolls from that year an attempt is made here to build up a picture of the heritors from other sources, including the Land Tax Rolls of 1803 (Scotland’s Places) and Valuation Rolls of 1855 and 1865 (Scotland’s People), the earliest available on-line. In addition the Reverend Matthew Kirkland gives a list of the chief-landowners in the parish in his statistical account of the parish, completed in November 1838.
